Mireya is from Puerto Rico and has a school in San Juan called Magic Steps Belly Dance Studio. She talks with us after winning trophies in the taxsim division from the judges panel, the Peoples Choice and for congeniality. She is with her proud mother, her students and friends. Miles Copeland of BDSS listens and then interjects from the background. A taxsim is an improvised musical solo, but in this instance it refers to the part of a dancers show that is slower, more moody, mysterious, and could include a prop.
