By adding Calcium Carbide to water, Calcium Hydroxide and Acetylene gas are the reaction products.
When acetylene is burnt in atmospheric oxygen it burns with a bright white flame

    The flame won't go through the tube since the acetylene is pure. It needs to come out into the air and only then it can burn. There are some idiots who electrolyse H20 and collect the mixed of H2 and O2 and burn it.

    That doesn't happen, I tried! The opening in the syringe is too small to allow any oxygen in, and Acetylene won't burn without Oxygen.
