FYI just one stab to lets say the solar plexus but not limited to will put a man into shock (a generalized decrease in blood flow throughout the body resulting in confusion,unconsiousness and if not treated death)and of course the guy will be putting more than one hole in you so within moments your your bleeding out with every heart beat. So which is more lethal again? a Slash or a stab?

    the opponent in this video is holding the knife for peircing, this is just my assumption though, I would think an attacker would hold the knife the other way as to slash and not nessicarily a penetration motion as a slash would do more harm pycologicaly with the bleeding and all

Yeah, I know what you mean - this style vs. style stuff is nonsense - you can only compare fighter vs. fighter. That's cool that your instructor has those qualifications. Mine's 31st Gen. Shaolin and has trained Federal Reserve and police force personel.

I'm not noob - I've studied Shaolin for over ten years - stick and knife fighting (and unarmed defenses against such things) are anything but foreign to me!

Of course people like me who've studied an advanced style/styles for years have no clue what we're doing *sarcasm. Lol. I have to check out a vid to examine knife attacks? I've survived them - I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing. XD

    I think the biggest problem is people think that one art is superior in a fight/self-defense - sport arts like TKD are not good for self-defense in comparison to Krav, many kung fu styles, etc. - but in general hardcore martial art/systems work. The problem is people don't realize how to fight - if you're smaller (especially with legs) don't kick so much - use hand strikes, grappling, etc.! And then of course one has to adopt different applicaitons of biomechanics for different body sizes.

    Well, I may disagree with you on opinions of people, but I do think too many people get too full of their styles without realizing what they're doing. For example, look at Karate. It does have hardcore effective forms, but chances are you'll never find a school that teaches them here in the US, where it's been heavily diluted into a useless sport-type art.

    I realize that, but martial arts often show you counters to attacks that other martial artists never use. Do me a favor and check out the Dog Brothers. Artists with Filipino backgrounds who worked as prison guards. They know what knife fighting is.

    karate lol oh yeah i was in that when i was like 10 or 12 haha dude in san quentin i was almost shanked 6 seperate times and if i didnt have my strength/krav training i would be dead, one of the attempts on my life i was stabbed in the forearm because a 350lb black guy named kong tried to stab me in the throat with a 8 inch drill bit. look at nmy pic on my profile.also i beat a philipeno who was trained in muai tahi...he thought his lil beaner legs were gonna do sumptin to my abs lol
