    Hey I came across your videos randomly. It's great to see vids on Korean cooking!

    I learned this neat trick fro my friend years ago- in a pinch, KIWI will help your marinade too. It's not the same as using the good ol' pear but it has a nice sweetness. The acids in the kiwi help tenderize your meat, especially if you only have a an hour or two before you want to chow down.

    My family puts in cup of apple juice with one kiwi to substitute for the asian pear. The kiwi acts as a tenderizer too. Thats my families secrets.

    Well, I can understand why. Those pears are expensive, even in Korea. They usually cost at least $4 each. Substitutes such as corn syrup, applesauce, honey, etc are cheaper.
