Who are these guys? What are there names? Just because ADCC claim these guys are champions does not mean it's true. Just watch Gracie in Action. In those videos the gracies claimed that all of the fighters they fought in the video are world champipns. It was done so just to hype up their name. ADCC are claiming world champions compete just to hype up their small tournament.

judo comes from "bujutsu" or Budo. So in fact it does have something to do with fuedal japan.

We are talking about if a BJJ player went for a single leg and the Judoka went for let's say Uchimata who more likely to get the takedown.I say the BJJ player because he has momentum behind him so unless the Judoka can throw fast he will be taken down.

lol well most fights end up in a clinch then fall to the ground.. a Jodoka would make a throw in that clinch.. and incase you didnt know a throw like tha Uchi mata can make up to 5000 lbs of force... done on concret,,, you land on your hip most likly your gonna break your hip.. and you can even be paralyzed.. Judo is much better for Self defense.

Htrows are MUCH more effective in a real fight compared to shooting in for a leg takedown.. you do a good uchi mata on the concrete and they aint getting up...

Think about it let's say I go in for the single leg take down, that means my center of gravity is low and I'm below the Judokas hips.Most throws in Judo require the correct hip position to be effect and therefore if I'm below his hips and he goes for let say Uchimata I'm going to get the takedown.

wrestling is an inferior art compared to judo. it has little thought in its technique, and while its approach is practical, its highly obvious and easily defended against.

Inefficient in the sense that often these takedowns place you in a dangerous posistion in being terribly off balance; and yes...to much muscling and not enough posistion. Position and balance are key. A decent Judo player doesnt have to maintain his balance forever...that is not the point. The point is that if you are unbalanced...you will certainly not take his before you are tossed on your head....

You are correct that it doesnt "prove" anything however it does lend towards evidence for a powerful inductive conclusion that you are more likely to run into a higher caliber of competitor than you would in BJJ.

The fact that it is more popular than BJJ in Brazil does not prove anything, Judo is an extremely popular sport worldwide that is why it's in the olympics.

Ineffient in what sense that it uses too much phyiscal strenght and can be sloppy?Ofcourse you run a risk of getting in trouble if your attack has good balance however even the best grapplers can't maintain their balance forever.If I go for a single leg you could hop around for a short period but eventually I will power through and get the take down.

Your inexperience is showing again. The "Simple takedowns you are refering to as currently practices by many BJJ players are often executed with Tore being off balanced, not to mention perfoming the take down in a very ineffient manner. You run a large risk of getting your self in trouble if your attacker has a good sense of balance. Even the Gracies have admitted the ground should not be option 1 in such a situation.

ekjudo is correct. Judo is overwhelming more popular in Brazil than BJJ. The ridiculous responses many of you are replying with are based on emotion. Investigate what is being said before you react to it.

Unless you're Olympic level, there's no money in wrestling and it's an AMATEUR SPORT inmost countries.
