but with a gun it couldve done more damage , a nice 45 jacketed hollow poit , phew ...only 1 shot on the torso or the head can do the job

  • The show implies ...

The show implies that this is like the kick every MMA fighter must use, as if its in the handbook for being a fighter and you're not a mixed martial artist if you don't have it. Completely incorrect assumption by people who apparently have little understanding of the true meaning of mixed martial arts: freedom from styles or techniques

  • Bas weighs more, is ...

Bas weighs more, is incredibly strong, and was a Muay Thai fighter as well as an MMA fighter, so he throws a Muay Thai kick, and a hard one at that. Bad job by the show thinking that it is an "MMA kick" as theres no such thing seeing how MMA is not a martial art, but a mix of whichever martial arts you chose. If you're a mixed martial artist and don't practice Muay Thai, you may throw a different kick, but that doesn't make it any less of an "MMA kick" as the Muay Thai kick.

  • not too mention the ...

not too mention the dummy for the MMA guy was anchor down as oppose to the dummy for muay thai guy.
This increases the force could be apply on the dummy by the MMA guy significantly.

firstly, look at the size difference between melchor (145lb) and bas (210lb), secondly...thats a thai kick, not no damn mma kick, get a heavyweight thai fighter to kick it and ull see similar numbers! plus bas is one of the hardest muthafuckas out there! so this video isnt true!

Melchor Menor fights at 145 tops. Bas fights at 205-210. THEY ARE BOTH THAI BOXERS.

  • Yeah, lets compare ...

Yeah, lets compare a Muay Thai kick with a Muay Thai knee and say we are comparing an MMA kick with a Muay Thai kick. That makes sense.

  • yep... that what ...

yep... that what mixed martial artist is...
    but again

    "bas rutten is a badass"

i guess the issue and all the comments around MMA here is because they call a "mma kick".. thats wrong

they should say "a Kick from a MMA fighter"
and, is my way to see this, the "mix" of all this martial arts help them to increase kick and punch power...

  • Look up "Bas Rutten ...

Look up "Bas Rutten." The guy used to knock people out with palm strikes in Pancrase. He's got skill and power--crazy power. Bas didn't rely on tests to prove his effectiveness in the ring; he won fights. This was shot well after he quit fighting and began training other fighters.

  • yet MMA isn't a ...

yet MMA isn't a martial arts style at all, it's a mixture of various martial arts style combined together.

And each Mixed Martial Artist has vastly different moves than another mixed marital artist. It's very difficult to determine just what exactly mixed martial artist because there isn't a universal form like kung fu or muay thai

  • This show is ...

This show is pathetic and im certain it's made by a bunch of number nerds who knows nothing about Martial Arts.

There is no such thing as a MMA kick.

And power isn't the dominating factor to win in a MMA fight. This show completely ignores the speed and flexibility of each fighter, and they are just as important as power.

The fighters used to do the tests are rigged. They found a TKD world champion to demonstrate TKD, yet the fighter demonstrating Kung fu is a young 20 yrs old..

  • These tests don't ...

These tests don't really prove how effective these fighters are in the ring, because even if he has can hit hard, you have to remember against a live fighter he can dodge and counter.

Speed is just as important as power in a fight because Force = Power x Speed.

Yet this show demonstrates nothing about speed

  • LMAO. Talk about ...

LMAO. Talk about clueless. Bas has scored 12 knockouts in MMA fights and once had 14 consecutive knockouts in muay thai fights. He is considered one of the best strikers to ever compete in MMA. Obviously he can strike with massive power against highly skilled opponents. To say he only hits hard because "the dummy isn't defending himself or counterstricking" is so ignorant its funny.

  • More damage than ...

More damage than Kung Fu guys? Tell that to Frank Shamrock's broken arm! You're still thinking stereotypical. And I'm sure there are 100 kg Kung Fu guys. Art Of War (MMA China) has a HW div too. And half the guys from AOW come from Kung Fu of some sort.

  • true. but different ...

true. but different styles train your body in a different way. so if you measure damage, MMA or boxers do more damage then kung fu guys. just as in real life.

there simply arent 100 kg+ kung fu guys ^^

Kinda dumb cause it all has to be the same attack to say whats more damage, and all the numbers are gonna differ from "whos" hitting it. I bet if i kicked the thing itd go up pretty high
