Shotokan Karate Kata DVD

yes i do know kevin very well infact you i bet i know him more than you. lol. i know he isnt 10th dan he is 5th going for 6th.
i have trained with him all my life.
who are you i might have met you as i have been with atsk for 11 years. i dont slag off other guys karate unless they slag off this. i know people are not perfect.

Kevin stark is not a 10th dan shotogirl. I take it you know him and are perhaps a student of his but I last saw kevin a year ago and trained with him 3/4 years ago. he was then 4th/5th dan. unless he has self graded (i do hope not!) he is not 10th dan and I am sure he would not appreciate people saying he is.
dont slag off another guys karate unless you can put your own up for all to see. many people have learned alot from these videos so chapeau to you sensei!

I feel I must comment as Kevin is a good pal of mine and I have trained with him many times over the years.
firstly this is not a great example of kata, even by sensei starks standards. I remember him making the video and the idea was to provide an instructional video for beginners and not to show off! this was many years before internet and you tube so was a great help for his (and some of my) students at the time.

no niggas that is ke bon iljang from taekwondo wt style and it is a white belt form. it means first basic form

you will find it in taikyoku nidan, but taikyoku shodan is chudan level only.

taikyoku shodan is also known as kihon kata.
they are recognised by SKI,KUGB and JKA.

taikyoku nidan and sandan are variations of the kata which was created by master funakoshi's son.

This is why you do not find Taikyoku Shodan in the original version of karate-do kyohan

1)this was done 10 years ago and he is now a 10th dan.
2)this was to help one of his students learn.
3)thats why it is like how it is - DERR.

no offence but i do shoto kan karate in bristol and we dont have a raikyoku shodan we start from heian shotodan ?

Why aren't the punches directed to the face?

Oh, and even as an instructional video, the point of showing the heart is even more stressed. If I had have watched this before I started training, I probably would have scoffed at it and went to Tae-Kwon-Do. Even the first time we viewed Kata, when I was about 5 years old, we were shown how powerful it is when you throw some passion into it.

After studying Shotokan for many years, obtaining many belts and awards for my performance, I am absolutely horrified to see such a shameful display as posted above. At the black belt level, this kata should have been done with much greater snap and the Kiyah has no heart! Dude, if you're gonna give an instructional video, do it right! Shotokan is about the power of the spirit, draw it out!

This is way different then the way i learned it when i was in karate, instead of the first 3 Punches, they were 3 continuous upper blocks and the end is different too

He really needs to put more snap power and speed into his movements. They were very weak. not good for black belt level

im studied Shotokan n got to Brown belt at the age of 8. thats when i stopped. im now 25, n i wanna start it back up again but i cant find anywhere near me that still practise it.
