Machida defeated Evans via KO (punch) at 3:57 of round 2 to become the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.

Bio --
Lyoto Carvalho Machida (born May 30, 1978) is a Japanese-Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who fights as a light heavyweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. As of May 2009, Machida is undefeated in his professional MMA career, and in his UFC career has yet to lose a round. He is currently sponsored by Bad Boy.
The son of a first generation Japanese-Brazilian Shotokan karate master, Yoshizo Machida (町田 嘉三 Machida Yoshizō?), Machida holds an undefeated record that includes victories over former UFC light-heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz, former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin, current UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn and former UFC light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans. Machida is noted for his karate-influenced striking style that implements an unorthodox stance and an elusive strategy.[2] On May 23, 2009, Lyoto Machida won the UFC light-heavyweight championship from the previously undefeated Rashad Evans by knockout in the second round.[3]Machida is currently ranked by Sherdog.com and FIGHTMagazine as the 1# ranked Light Heavyweight fighter in the world.

  • To all u haters, u ...

To all u haters, u musta celebrated when Rashad was handed his first loss. I should remind u that GSP is considered the 2nd best p4p fighter in the world & he lost in his first title defense, to an inferior fighter might I add. On watching the fight, Rashad got careless, hopefully he would learn from that. For a fighter who has never been defeated, & went straight to the top of the world, I'm sure he would be back & even better, so all u maggots, better celebrate now, b4 he makes his comeback.
