Cow Giving Birth

when they were dragging the newborn, it looked as if they were dragging a dead cow lol but other than that it was handled smoothly and the cow was beautiful.

they don't take the baby away right after it's born. They actually let the mother clean the baby off and they stay together for at least an hour or more. However on a dairy farm, the mom doesn't have time to properly care and feed her baby since she is milked 3 times a day, so that is why the workers on the farm do it for the mom to ensure the baby is healthy and gets the proper care and nutrition.

Actually that's not entirely correct. Firstly their breed is 'Holstein', secondly if 1 out of 4 die during giving birth, that's a really bad statistic for your herd. Out of a herd of 100, it is possible to lose only 4-5 cows, and that would be consider just ok. Thirdly, it's not just this breed of cow that have problems during calving, any cow can, whether it's a milk breed or beef breed, this trait of 'problems with calving' can be lowered with better genetic decisions!

Those breed of cows are called Olstein.. 1 out of 4 die giving birth. I dont know why .. I know that my uncle has a farm in South Italy every year cows dies if you dont help them...specificly this breed of cow with white and black only..

it's not always easier for a cow to birth standing up. The cow seems to be just fine delivering the calf. I'm sure if there would've been a problem the technician from the farm would've taken care of her.

it would've been alot easier had it been standing up because everytime she pushed it went back in a bit so it took longer and it was more painful
