When World War II ended some veterans returned to a heroes welcome with tickertape parades and bands playing. Millions of other veterans, however, simply came home and went to work with no thanks or fanfare or welcome home. Rotary Clubs in western North Carolina, through the HonorAir program are flying WWII veterans to Washington DC to view the WWI memorial and to thank them for their service to our country and the world. These are some of the veterans returning from their trip to DC in October 2009, 64 years after the end of the war.
