I would advise it on any new engine. Its like a 1:1 car.... there will be metal shavings in there too. Its why it is important to run it and get the first oil change. If you want metal shavings in the engine and possible air leaks and prefer a better running engine... then I would

It depends on how mechanical you are and the engine that you get. It is relatively easy I think.

Ok, just wanted to clarify as the MT can be confusing as the savage is a MT and a big block. You need a small block engine and any engine size .12 to .20 will work. I would suggest a OS engine in that size and their warranty is second to none. Check out their website and ebay. Their .12's and .19s are pretty good! just make sure that you get the right carb (rotary or slide), exhaust (side or rear), and shaft (SG or pilot).

Yeah it is an older model it is the nitro mt. I e-mailed thier support and the guy said that there are two that would fit but one of them is for an onroad car and one is for anything. I was wondering which one to buy. Ill make a video of the engine and send it to you so you can see.

Hop on the forum, I am squirrel, and shoot me over some pictures. I am assuming that it is a big block engine (I just want to know if it is a savage or the stadium truck which is a small block) then I can tell you of a few good ones. They are pretty much made to be interchangable and you can get parts off of ebay.

Great vids. Im new to nitro and my buddy is selling me his hopped up nitro mt and he said they no longer sell the parts. He said i would have to buy a new engine and the hpi website is not too clear and i was wondering if you knew.

I wont mention the name of the modder as he miss-appropriated funds (which allowed him not to ship for 6 months) and is no longer in business over his practices. He also did not do the full job as promised. I will say that he is a forum moderator on forums so.... I would just be careful.

Remove the sleeve, get some pliers wrapped in electrical tape (so that the teeth dont grab into the metal, and pull it out.
