These are the M1A1 abrams not the original m1 abrams! They were deigned in the 1970's and in 1979 the M1 was in the production line. Since then they have incorporated improved armament, protection and electronics. These improvements, as well as periodic upgrades to older tanks (M1) have allowed this long-serving vehicle to remain in front-line service which is how the M1A1 and M1A2 have become so effective!

M1s have better armor and can shoot very accurately WHILE moving.
