In City of Vadodra, India - Residents thrash a Hindu Indian Police Constable for misbehaving with girl
The Officer followed the Grade 10 student and then made lewd/sexual "flying kisses and winking" gestures at her
Residents of Raopura beat up a police constable for allegedly trying to make obscene gestures at a Class X girl student of the locality on Friday.
According to the police, the incident occurred in the afternoon when the girl was passing by. Constable Jayesh Vaghela apparently first followed the girl and then made lewd gestures at her. The girl panicked and reported the matter to her parents, who immediately raised an alarm.
Neighbours gathered at the spot and thrashed the policeman on the main road itself. Later, he was dragged to the Raopura police station barely 500 metres away and handed over to the police.
The girl has filed a complaint of harassment and eve-teasing against Vaghela.
While Vaghela denied the incident, senior police officers said an investigation will be carried out and action will be taken against Vaghela if found guilty.
Avtaar Singh Kanojia, the girl's father, said there was no apparent reason for Vaghela to be present in their area. The accused was indeed guilty, he said.
Area Inspector N A Solanki refused to say whether Vaghela will be suspended. Vaghela has been recently posted in the area.
Kanojia is a businessman and has a shop on the main Raopura Road. His residence is located above the shop.
Incidentally, this is not the first time that the public in Vadodara have taken the law in their own hands and dispensed justice. courtsy-the indianexpress
