great speech, Very simple yet emotionally forceful delivery. I wish they had teleprompters back in those days so he could spoken it easier. I cant imagine how powerful it would have been if he didnt have to keep looking down but rather could have held your gaze and shown in his face his emotional reaction to this issue. Even to this day though speech's message and content are pertinent. Amazing climax at the 58 second mark. I love the symmetry of repetition in presenting of examples

2/26/61 JFK said, "Perhaps the rarest courage of them all --for the skill to pursue it is given to very few men-- is the courage to wage a silent battle to illuminate the nature of man and the world in which he lives." Each of us, in our daily lives, are challenged to contribute some measure of enlightenment to the human condition that we may comprehend the need for compassion & understanding irrespective of the artificial divisions of race, religion, ethnicity & thus truly embrace our humanity.

Brilliant man. Unfortunately they through away the mould when he died. He was of his time but timeless.

The world yearns for statesmen of his caliber but they only come rarely, if ever.

Depressing prospect but there you go.

Now this was in my opinion his most poignant speech. Given at a time when it was most needed, and he did not shrink from the responsiblity of it. Civil rights had never been articulated by a president in this manner before the speech. This is what an american president should be like. But I don't believe we'll ever see Kennedy's like again. We only get this type of president once.

Well, as we all know someone always has to replace a former President. So, what do you think the characteristics and beliefs of that person should be in order for the country to go back to a Kennedy-like era!?
