This light does a nice job for under $30 including bulbs. I suggest getting more powerful bulbs to really kick your growing up a notch. Here is a link to some nice ones that I plan to buy and install in this fixture: http://www.1000bulbs.com/105-Watt-Compact-Fluorescent/31681/ Comments welcome, thanks! ...

  • Thanks for your ...

Thanks for your input. I'm looking in to a modification of this simple fixture that will be just as simple as the original to make. I made 2 of these to grow hydroponic lettuce and beans and it's been working excellent. I'll see what I can come up with to improve and post results...any ideas welcome.

There is one flaw (i only made it to 3:28) that i see with this design. The end needs to be cut off, then it needs some bending. This reflector will reflect alot of light back into the glass of the bulb where it will be absorbed, instead of putting it to the canopy. Make it shaped like an M with a small center and rounded outer sides, it will be much more effective.

Yes, that would knock a few bucks off it. I see appliances thrown away in my neighborhood but never have anything to cut a cord with when I come across something. "Helen, That man is stealing the cord off of the blender we threw away!".
