India certainly made a mark during the Common Wealth Games 2010 Opening Ceremony on the 3rd October 2010. The opening ceremony was broadcast on a global scale with almost three billion people around the world watching and witnessing it. India surely came out impressive and indeed very attractive during the opening.
The Chief Guest at the opening ceremony were none other than Prince Charles and his wife Camila. Along with them was the President of India, Mrs. Pratibha Patil. The ceremony was jointly declared open by Prince Charles and President Pratibha Patil in New Delhi on the evening of 3rd October.
India showcased one of the best opening ceremony's that the world has ever seen. Many had expected that India would not turn up on the preparation for the games, and certainly never imagined a gala opening ceremony of such a level. There were different segments during the opening ceremony which depicted India and its cultural heritage, which showcased the world what India is jointly made and comprised of.
The whole event lasted for more than four hours almost into the night, but it was a proud moment for every Indian around the world to witness, India presenting an opening ceremony that is today considered one of the best ever presented in the world. Indeed India has shown that it has the capacity and capability to undertake almost anything, any event, any occasion or any sports tournament, for India today stands on the world stage with confidence and respect.
