You are correct. The bed uses a hydraulic system to pull out of the wall. And btw the Suite is actually significantly larger than EK's.

From the Singapore Air website: "The seat converts to a full-sized bed with a plush mattress, covered in a lavish duvet and furnished with cushions, both designed by French fashion house Givenchy. Using separate sleeping and sitting surfaces, the intelligent design of the full flat bed offers customers the choice to rest in their preferred sleeping positions, and also allows them to sit and lounge in bed to read or catch movies on their personal 58-centimetre (23-inch) LCD screen."

...people are getting giddy over these planes...I think they have this sense that they are going to have all these perks when they won't. Like in the 747, the FA's will bar you from going up those steps to see what the good life is like.

I think we are on the same page. The A380 is a stunning marvel in aviation achievement but when I'm on a 10 hr flight I grow restless and would appreciate the treatment the 1st class passengers would have. I'd like to go to the little bar or participate in some blackjack. I can't. The A380 DOESN'T benifit me in any practical sense and in fact it would make life harder - after 10 hrs want off but now I'd contend with hundreds of people rushing to immigration check out. Where's the good?

i think you misunderstood me. What i was saying is that i don't need the phone but if need be its available. You are correct that other planes also have this feature.
Same with TV, i don't need the TV but if its available i can use it. If airline makes bulk of its money from first class than i (an economy class passenger) get to enjoy a good economy class ticket price. A-380 gives airlines the potential to earn huge profits with two first class floors + business class floors.

The entertainment units are found on most long-haul airlines unless you want to hook up with a bargain airline. The phones - BAH! - $3 per minute or more that nobody really uses. So what I was saying was all the practical perks are found after you pay $13,000 for your ticket - otherwise you are just being warehoused. Lucky you,dude...I would never pay $13k for a 10 hr flight - NEVA!!

dude, the econony class has tv screens behind every seat. The cabin is still ultra quiet compared to other planes. There is phone behind every seat. To me its a bargain cuz i have all these resources and i don't have to pay money for first class.
Now only if they had wireless internet....i guess Al-Etihad airlines also has that included.
