By yallehrup [Affiliate User] 1228589183 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTo joshig1983 - it is hard to do, but I am trying to parabolizing the miror because it is f:4,5. I think I have to try one more time.
Tricyklist recomend me to grind with the tool on top. I think he is right.
The reason your mirror did not polish right out to the edge is because your lap facets did not reach the edge of the tool. Working with tool regularly on top would have helped to polish the mirror to the very edge. The mirror will still work very well with only a small lost of contrast if the figure is okay. Enjoy your telescope and your superb dome.
By Tricyklist [Affiliate User] 1226269002 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf you are using a Newtonian optical system, the mirror is supposed to be parabolic in shape. If you use a really long focal ratio like over f/8, you can get away with a spherical shape without too much loss of resolution due to spherical aberation. If you didn't make a telescope before, it takes some handy work. Start with buying all the parts premade. If you really want to make the mirror, it helps to have a scope ready as a test bed for your new mirror.

By klaus5492 [Affiliate User] 1202518751 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis is a great video. Your workmanship is excellent. The ring around the edge of the mirror is due to insuffucuent polishing. Thank you for sharing this video.
