Sorry, but the longest shot under combat conditions IS held by a Canadian. Cpl Rob Furlong has a confirmed kill at 2657 yards, which beats Hathcock's shot by a fair amount. trust me. u get enough arc on the round the velocity increase on the way down. the round will strike the target at pretty much terminal velocity. it is enough to kill a human target.

the coriolis effect can affect really any shot. particularly those at about 1600 yards or more. when u shoot in the northern hemisphere because of the magnetic pull, ur shot will pull to the right. when shoothing in the sounthern hemisphere ur shot will pull left.=Semper Fi

no S**t man. im talking about shooting a target with the .50 barrett M82A1 which is wut we use. Generally we use M40A2s. and we usually make 1000 to 1800 yard shots with those. but for as big a target as this animal was and for not moving and with little or no wind this was an easy shot and does not compare to shooting a human size target out to and inclue distances out to 2600 yards. dont worry i know wut im talkin about. -Semper Fi

unless you've got a cheytac 200,400 or a .50 cal goodluck, even if you do i rather doubt your making shots at that distance.
1000 yards at itself is a great shot, lots of things are taken to account at even that range. until then go read up on whats a good shot, and proper english.
