Arab media routinely ignores the Druze soldiers who serve in the Israeli army when they get killed. This is the funeral of Youssef Mouadi, 19, from the elite Golani Brigade killed in the friendly-fire incident in Gaza on 01/07/09.

The issue of the service of Israeli-druze in the army is one of the remaining taboos in the Arab-Israeli conflict. It challenges the view of a conflict neatly dividing Jews and Arabs.

Historically, in Israel the druze are not classified as Arabs but rather view as a separate ethnic group of its own. A distinction that raises the ire of many Arabs as they tend to see them as traitors to the Arab cause.
