By raziel1629 1247938285 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTurned the semi reassembled xbox on to do the 10 minute bake as instructed and still had one red light and E74 on screen. But turned it on and off several times and hit the reset button a few times and it cleared up and has been running great for days. One suggestion would be to use "needle nose pliers"to remove the X-BRACE instead of a screwdriver.Just clamp on the end of the brace and twist up and it pops off.Great video THANKS ALOT.

God Bless you mate!
I may of not noiced in your video you unscrewing the screw threads from the heat sink for the bolts to fit.
Also I got 2 red lights, played around with the fan and put it upside down, this allows you to place the fan on top without holding on to it.
great Video from John (uk)
Having the fan the other way help. no more red light when baking the xbox.
I also noticed that if i plug the game controller in a differant usb port I can get the xbox to start up if its shuts down,
Worked like a charm. I decided to use hex bolts because the heads were a little smaller than the M5 screws so I didn't have to make as big of a hole in the frame but everything else was the same. Worked first time after the modification and my son is very happy. Thanks a bunch.
By Rskrbs 1232830954 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveGreat video tutorial. I've been researching the E74 problem in order to fix my sons Xbox and have to say your video has been the best I've come across. Yours definitely had the most detail and will make it very easy when I try fixing it tomorrow.
By Rskrbs 1232762926 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI hope that isn't the case. I just used 2mm thick nylon washers instead of bothering to put the 1mm metal and 1mm thick nylons together. I'm pretty sure they won't melt. Then again if the guy had pictures of the melted washers...then I might have to replace the washers with whatever works best.

4 lights means your cables aren't connected properly. Try replugging them or try another set of cables.
By tarutamahome [Affiliate User] 1231129094 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI saw a seller in ebay who says thats the Nylon washers are not recomended becouse they will melt sometime and this will cause RROD again and we will have to do this fix again.
Is that true? He claims that spring washers are the best to use (instead of Nylon ones).
Well... what is the best washer then?
i COULd do this, or take advantage of my WARRANTY that I still ahve... i was not stupid, and left it alone...

By poppy111111111 [Affiliate User] 1231097166 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveOK, don't wanna jinx anything, but the baby is WORKING!!! Removed a washer on each screw, limited the amount of compound on the chips, and only tightened the screws til they were a snug fit. GREAT tutorial, thanks for sharing!
By CheezyFries2009 [Affiliate User] 1231051299 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHelp! The fix worked after the repair was done, and worked when checked again during the reassembly. However, upon completion of putting the unit back together, it displayed one red light in the lower right quad, and a E74 msg. What went wrong? Video cable was swapped with a known good one, and that didnt help either. ??????
