In Kingdom of the Spiders a swarm of huge tarantulas, enraged by the misuse of pesticides, try to take over their part of the world. Dr. Robert Hansen (William Shatner), a local Arizona veterinarian joins forces with entomologist Diane Ashley (Tiffany Bolling) to keep the spider population under control. Woody Strode and Altovise Davis also appear as the owners of a neighboring ranch.
I know what you mean - I saw this on cable TV one Saturday night when I was 11 or 12. The next day my mom took me to my grandparents' house and she kept asking me to go down in the basement to get her a beer. Trouble was in the den down there there were no light switches, only lamps that you had to find in the dark to turn on. You can imagine what was going through my mind...

By the time Steven Spielberg and his crew made "Arachnophobia", however, movies did have to get the blessing of animal rights people and thus there were far less "casualties" on that set. Actually several spiders get killed on-screen in this one, some by accident but most on purpose.

I was just a kid and watched it one summer while at my folk's cottage where there was always a spider or two around. It was tough going to sleep that night. LOL If you like these 70's freaky films, another very good one is called "Frogs" (1972). I really enjoy these trips down memory lane and hope you do, too!

By langerhund [Affiliate User] 1221310042 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis came out in 1977. I don't think they were watching over 15,000 different spiders.
