  • Best running back ...

Best running back maybe. Best athlete is a stretch. Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis are 2 off the top of the head that would have achieved a lot in athletics.

  • I was talking to a ...

I was talking to a guy at work today about how much I hated the Faiders, because I'm a Seahawks fan. Especially Bo Jackson. Except, Bo did have one of the best runs I've ever seen. His off-tackle run against the Bengals that was 90+ untouched. Watched that on tv when it happened and I gained tons of respect for him. How come NOBODY has it on youtube? I saw the last half of it on a different clip, but it's nowhere in full. Besides that run, I hate Bo. I have to look away on the Boz clip.

  • great video but ...

great video but what's with the music? Did Bo die and we all missed it? I expected to see a close up of an urn at the end - ha.

Actually Bo was indeed the greatest athlete I ever saw - I was fortunate to have seen him throughout his career - unreal what he could do.

  • Okay, well I guess ...

Okay, well I guess I'm wrong then. Ben Johnson's time was 4.38 seconds, so you're wrong too. I read in Ironman magazine that his time was 3.7. So, I'm not making this up. Just calm down. It's just a message board. Okay?

  • Ben Johnsons time ...

Ben Johnsons time is disputed as the fastest ever for 1 sure fire reason. On film he moves from point A (0 yards) to point B (40 yards) in 4.26s. The current day NFL speed demons are often times clocked in "private" tryouts. Come on, lets see the evidence. You can keep throwing out crazy numbers but the truth is in the facts.

  • This is simply not ...

This is simply not true. Ben Johnsons 40 yard time was 4.26 in his famous 100 meter run and this time is disputed as "the fastest" 40 ever by scientific analysis. Granted the NFL uses electronic timing but the fastest "official" NFL combine time is also ironically 4.26s. There have been "faster" times but these have been ruled out due to the method of timing.

  • I only said 4.2 ...

I only said 4.2 because he wasn't timed by machine. Then again, no one was back then.

  • That's not true. ...

That's not true. Ben Johnson ran 9.79 and within that 100 meters, his 40 yard time was 3.7.

  • These conversations ...

These conversations are useless. The game is so different now, the training is so different, the a-hem enhancers are so different and the competition is so different there is absolutely no way to compare. Besides, when Bush carries the load and averages better than his 3.8 yards a carry THEN you can compare him to Brown.

  • deemka14, you do ...

deemka14, you do not know what you are talking about. Jim Brown, at 220, in FULL UNIFORM , ran the 40 in 4.5. Reggie Bush, at 205, in shorts and t-shirt, ran a 4.33. Not only would Brown "be as good", he's be a PREMIER back. Brown, if in his prime today, would possibly be the most feared back in the NFL, for his strength, combined size & speed, and his UNPARALLELED determination.

  • Answering "What if? ...

Answering "What if?" is easy. Bo would have surpassed them all. Anybody that watched him would agree. He was a man among boys. A truly unique and special combination of size, speed, vision, power, desire. Only one other running back is comparable in the history of pro football: Jim Brown.
