The Clash of the Titans sequel moves one step closer to production. All the details coming up next!

Ever since clash of the titans blew up the box office in April, Warner brothers has been moving fast to start production on the sword and sandal sequel. The first flick grossed somewhere close to $500 Million dollars worldwide, and now the Titans Sequel has taken another step forward with news that two writers have been hired.

Dan Mazeau, known for his work on warner brothers upcoming flicks "The Flash" and "Jonny Quest," will be paired with David Leslie Johnson, writer of "The Girl with the Red Riding Hood," which is director Catherine Hardwicke's gothic fairytale starring Amanda Seyfried.

Reports are that Mazeau and Johnson will start by collaborating with "green Lantern" co-writer and producer Greg Berlanti, in order to nail down the treatment, before moving on to the screenplay.

Another report confirms the films stars Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton are both expected to return and the studio reportedly hopes to get the film in production by early next year to beat out Worthington's commitment to James Cameron's "Avatar" sequel.

As for director Louis Leterrier, he will not be returning behind the camera, but may remain involved with the project as an executive producer. And while there hasn't been a new director attached yet, there are reports that Jonathan Liebesman, the man behind The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, is one of the front runners.

Lastly, it has been reported that The sequel will be filmed in 3D this time around as opposed to the 1st film's post production conversion. Clash of the Titans 2 should hit theaters sometime in spring 2012.
