  • You can put as many ...

You can put as many works of art in a warehouse and you still couldn't define Art, Dennett seems to be doing so by craming as many observations on the human brain (or conscioussness) as he can in a lifetime. His work is very enjoyable but it's flat. Quantifying the brain by creating norms of interaction between brain cells will not recreate the sensation of wanting a sweet piece of cake (which is also everchanging ), only paint a numerical blueprint of it.

  • There is religion ...

There is religion and there is faith and belief. I think religious institutions have not done much except perhaps the preservation of manuscripts and artifacts (and the funding of the renaissance). Faith and belief have brought peace and love to men's hearts. These same things have driven others to war. Science has developed nuclear weapons. It's not faith, religion or science that F**ks things up. It's the human application of these things.

  • Science can ...

Science can disprove sacred religious texts via they're striving to prove things that have little to do with sacred texts. I don't assume the entire Bible is a metaphor because a number of "scientists" throughout history set out to disprove the Bible and I know a few of them became converted because they can't wipe it away that easily. I mean look at the Bible's first day, in it there's only light and dark with no sun or moon. This gives way to allowing some possibility of the day-age theory.
