Horse Racing Accident Film

Most jockeys need to weigh around 108 pounds that way when they way in with boots, tackle, helmet, and clothes they won't be too heavy. Usually that is somewhere between 113-118 pounds at the scale. So in general jockeys are pretty short. Usually somewhere between 4' 10"-5' 8". Of course the taller you are the skinnier one has to be...and most jockeys are pretty muscular; hence why they are usually around 5' 3" or so.

It's just a fiction suspense/thriller with some Horse Racing in it. I broke my leg recently. I totally know how fast it can happen. Jockeys are really amazing people.

No, I don't know him. I was doing research last year for a book I am(still) writing, and found his paintings-- His composition is amazing, and the colors are great. I have an art history major. From his story, he also seems like he was a really tough jockey.

Wow...sorry for his loss. Jockey's are tough SOB's aren't they?

Last year a friend of mine was racing. He fell, got kicked in the head and died. He was 22. It doesn't stop his brother from racing. He decades every race to him instead.

That is because my documentary was not about horses. That might be the next one. I'm sorry you don't give a damn about the fate of jockey's. I can tell you I'm glad my father escaped death when I was just a teenager.

It's all about the jockeys...not much said about the fate of the horses (although need we ask?). Personally I don't give a damn about the jockey's but I care very much about the horses!

Really great documentary Matt! I'm still looking forward to a full length film and maybe you could include the women of horseracing also. Your film really shows a hard part of this industry and would like to see the next one include horse slaughter also and what the industry can do to stop this horrible practice. i love horse races. but it´s so sad to see this. but i don´t think horse races are bad or wrong or something. every sport is dangerous.

Tell your brother that unlike hockey players, Jockeys don't wear pads. Just recently, they have an option of wearing a thin kevlar protector that is not even stardardized because it means they have to lose even more weight for weigh in. Also, jockeys don't have contracts like hockey. If they get hurt, they have no money coming in. In my opinion, nothing comes close in sports. These guys are the bomb.

i love this video, its really shows how tough these guys are. my brother was saying to me that NHL players are tougher and are more phisically fit, but i dont agree, i think jockeys are the thoughest guys in the world, i wanted to be a jock, but i am now 5 9'-way to tall.all my friends look at me weird when i say that.how do you think i could prove to my brother that jockies are tougher than NHL hockey players?

My dad heard of both of them. He said that Alvaro died a year before he started riding in the 70's. He said that he didn't know Robert, but that they were both respected in the industry and a great loss to the industry.

Two of my uncles died in horse racing accidents. My uncle Alvaro Pineda died at santa anita race track and my uncle Robert Pineda died at Pimlico. I was wondering if you knew either of them Chapman?
