My grandmother had his albums and used to play them when I was at her house. His music makes me think of her.

He nearly died in 2002- he burst an artery and was in a coma for over 6 weeks. He has had to change his singing style (especially his breathing, which is labored as you can tell from this video). His singing is not of the same quality now, but it is a miracle he is still singing at all. Appreciate him while you still can- he is one of the all-time classics.

This the tale of a mutually painful breakup of a relationship between two lovers. It appears he walks away to allow her to have another lover thus "bringing out all the good things in me". The song sounds like poetry put to music making a literal translation puzzling. Gordon Lightfoot is so deep you need a submarine to keep up with him.

there is another version of this song posted by someone else , exact same venue , but it sounds bloody awful , this version sounds much better, they other one must've been a fake, check it out

Bob Dylan used to say he could listen to Gordon Lightfoot forever. I think most of us could especially in the 70's - his voice hasn't aged as well as some.

Uh dude this is the original. Johnny Cash is an excellent singer but so is Gordon Lightfoot both are amazing. And by the way dude you should change your name 'cause take it from a true "Metalhead" Avenged Sevenfold are not and never will be metal. ;)
