UECHI-RYU KARATE-DO FROM OKINAWA VOLUME 1 With Takémi TAKAYASU In this DVD, master Takémi Takayasu presents the 4 fundamental kata of the Uéchi-Ryu Karaté Do from Okinawa (Sanchin, Kanshiwa, Kanshu, Seichi) and all their applications as well as Kyu-Yakusoku-Kumité, defense and attack against an enemy with a knife.
i wasnt talking about vital points..i mean weak anotomical structures, like the back of the knee, or the temple. not necessarily pressure points. shorinkarate was right, uechi, and alot of other traditional arts are for patient people who are in it for the long haul. if someone wants quick results for self defense, they wouldn't do well with "classical" uechi for example because they wouldnt have time to develop their tools, their knuckles, and/or toes for example. theyd have to modify it.

By suppagangsta [Affiliate User] 1196335198 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyou confirm my point. they allow you to do that because if you dont have time to condition your weapons properly, you will injure yourself more than your opponent. a neccessity though. but you can still use the traditional strikes to weak parts of the body
By kempobrad [Affiliate User] 1194337270 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI have taken Uechi ryu Karate and my teachers said you can use a normal punch or ball of the foot kick. Plus if you are wearing shoes the toe kick is still effective casue you have the protection of the shoe and it may be harder then the toe. That's if you are attacked on the street.

By kempobrad [Affiliate User] 1187722023 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveUechi karate is not for everyone. That kind of karate is just for patient people....

By shorinkarate [Affiliate User] 1185200528 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyeah, you will break your thumb or toe. most people aren't going to do the conditioning required to do those strikes effectively
By kempobrad [Affiliate User] 1184425428 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyeah but when you hit some one with the kakushiken or the toe front kich it will do some damage
By gtray45 [Affiliate User] 1184376185 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei like uechi ryu, they have some of the coolest looking kata. the only thing im not so sure about is some of the strikes, very little use of a regular fist..all one knuckle fist (phoenix eye fist in kung fu) and their front kick is done with the big toe, as well as the kakushiken, striking with the thumb knuckle...they sound kind of dangerous, unless you have tremendous conditioning on a makiwara.
