Aprilia RSV1000R Vs. Ducati 1098S - Sportbike Shootout

I'm on my second RSVR Factory (had an '04, recently nabbed a zero-mile '07). They're essentially the same motorcycle -- very minor updates between the model years.

I'm also a former Ducati guy. Had three of 'em. I just got tired of paying 30% more for the same build quality and components.

The RSV's definitely benefit from a little "sorting out" if you're primarily a street rider. They're geared *really* tall. Swapping out 15/42 sprockets yields OMG results for those who love torque.

rsvr is my choice. I own both 06rsvrFac and 08 1098 and the rsvr is better in all aspects except the motor. But its giving up 100cc's and is 10years old. Technology has made the duc motor better but its going to be put to shame i think when the rsv4 comes out. Time to dump the Duc on a v-twin squid kinda like the 1000 gixxer squids and put a payment down on the RSV4.

These guys are jokers...the RSVR is down 100cc...of course the motor is going to be more powerful. I eat duc's on the street constantly...and I can ride comfortably all day long!! PLUS the Aprilia is more reliable and costs less! We all know who won masterbike...the real experts choose Aprilia ;)
