I ask you Islandfad - What is the meaning behind the sentence "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup" Can you answer me that?
I mean this is an open interview, isn't he supposed to say something, everyone can relate to? Apparently he wants to tell us how good martial arts is for body and soul. Shouldn't he be saying something to which youngsters can relate? As I already said, the rest of the interview was pretty straight forward and easy to relate to.

I think I didn't explain it well enough.
First, The rest of the interview actually makes sense in every aspect.
Its just this particular line.
He talks about water, comparing it to martial arts.
The thing is, he does not explain the meaning of what he said. So why does he say it?
Let's put aside if he himself understands that metaphor. If he understands it, he tells it to the audience, but he doesn't explain the deeper meaning of it.

That's right, Felthrian. And not only that. His words here not only apply to martial arts, but to all aspects of life. Take marriage for example. None of us can understand women even if we tried. We'd go nuts tying to figure it out.

But if we just ride the waves. If we flow like water we can make a marriage work. We are not obstructed by the obstacles of life. We adapt and consume them. Just like water, my friend.

If Bruce Lee was just trying to sound wise, then so was Bertrand Russell, Abraham Lincoln, Tomas Edison, Plato, Rene Descartes, Jesus.... The list goes on. Bruce was an always will be my hero. If his only intention was to sound wise then he did one hell of a job. Because everything he said made deep spiritual sense. When I try to sound wise, my words carry little impact. Wisdom is not found in words, but in the meaning behind them.

you can say that.. but the thing is.. it is true.. wether he made it up to sound wise or not, it is an intelligent metaphor for kung fu and makes perfect sense.
