  • I am not going to ...

I am not going to question their aerospace knowledege but walking on the moon? Only americans believe that as there are so many controversies about that. But Gagarin flying to open space as the first ever? Now, you can not take away let alone question. Oh and by the way, that F**king piece of S**t DC-10 was nothing but human killer and even an american knows that. DC aircrafts in general were full of flaws. For all the lives they took away, the designer of DC should have been prosecuted!!!

  • America had the ...

America had the Boeing SST project that was to be far larger than the Concorde. They dropped it for the same reasons that the Concordes have been retired...... Practicality, expense, viability. Remember.....only Americans have walked on the moon. They did that nearly 40 years ago. So don't question their aerospace knowledge.

Ugh....retarted Americans. You guys originated from Europe. YOU folks harvest wood and make bottled water too. Heh you guys are so dumb with your DC-10's at least Europe made a worthy super sonic aircraft. Until YOU folks make any successful aircraft GET A LIFE LOSER.

I hate the DC-10 (the lockheed L-1011 was way better than it). The DC-10 had thousands of faults and it pisses me off to see this metal piece bring a concorde down. I hope that the DC-10 retires and all the planes go for scrap very very soon.

DC planes are probably the worst planes ever made by human kind.

  • Screw you! ...

Screw you! Accidents happen, there isn't anything that could have been done, and like 66and04 said air craft are checked out before taking off the run way. No-one could have guessed that a chunk of metal was going to fall off a plane. Go check your facts before you start flapping your jaws about a topic which you happen to be un-informed. Screw your Anti-America rhetoric that we've all heard 1 million times before. The U.S. in addition to many countries is on the cutting edge of aviation!

Tragic, bad luck. The chunk of metal was pretty small and few feet either way may have meant the wheel would miss it. My sorrow goes to all those lost.

  • Quit your crying, ...

Quit your crying, dont blame it on a country, the DC-10 was probably maintained by French maintenance personal prior to its flight. Also, you are from Andorra??? HA! a place that nobody gives two S**ts about. Your people make bottled water and harvest wood. Once your country produces something of some value then you can open your mouth. Get a life!

  • If American crappy ...

If American crappy planes weren´t leaving pieces of S**t on the airports, there wouldn´t be any tire blown.

Amercican Retards caused Concorde Activities to cease, those americans were unable to build a similar plane...Losers.

Those incompetents blamed Concorde by its noise on US soil...bunch of LOSERS. If were Boeing you´ll S**king its wheels...

Those retards with their crappy technology caused the Concorde crash and all people dead. A DC-10 left a piece of its fuselage on the road..Yep

  • Oh man, this is ...

Oh man, this is incredibly sad! I have read so much on the Air France Concorde crash at Charles De Gaulle Airport but seeing this just brings the tragedy all back. At this point I can't even think about the goddamn airplane that killed so many people but think of the people themselves and their devastated families! May they rest in peace! Concorde was a great piece of technology but the lack of funds to upgrade it had doomed it!

  • If I'm driving in ...

If I'm driving in my car and the engine brakes down or even catches fire I can always pull over and get out. Also cars don't crash at 300 MPH, E=MC2. The plane has much more mass and speed, there for more energy, then a car, so you are less likely to live thru the crash. Also cars DON'T fall down after they crash. So I think I'll keep my car.

  • ...only problem ...

...only problem with that woefully simple-minded assessment is that automobiles are OVER a hundred times more likely to involve a fatal accident ***per unit*** than an airplane. So the chances of a sole aircraft on a route involving a fatal accident are 1/104, compare that to automobiles which statistically would experience at least a single fatality every day for three and a half months just to MATCH typical probability paradigms.

  • What I mean is... ...

    What I mean is...

    (simplified example)
Consider 200 people flying on a plane from, e.g. Paris to Berlin. I'm in it. The plane has an accident. My probability of being in that plane is 100%.

Consider 200 people traveling from Paris to Berlin by car, i.e. 50 cars if we put 4 people in each. Even if 25 cars have an accident during the trip, my probability of being in one of the cars involved is only 50%.

  • Eh, arguably, it ...

    Eh, arguably, it was.

While no one factor can down a modern jetliner, and that certainly remains true here; it was well-known that Concorde was highly vulnerable to this sorta thing.

There were 29 prior tire bursts which had caused wing/tank damage on Concorde before.

In 1979, Concorde F-BVFC experienced a burst so dramatic that it blew a hole through the TOP of its wing, and leaked fuel at an even greater rate than this crash! Fortunately, there was no fire, nor loss of control surfaces.

You do realize that that makes absolutely no sense, no matter how you split it.

But very well, I'll humor your nonsense:
do tell: ~how~ exactly, is that a problem for you per se?

    1) CO's DC10s had an excellent safety record.
    2) CO retired them seven years ago.

  • The problem - for ...

The problem - for me at least - is the ratio of deaths per single accident.

1 Car accident = max. cars involved (usually not more than 5 or 6 people per car)

1 flight accident = max. all passengers (often more than 100 souls...)
