She is a great singer. Loved her for many years. But (and with due respect) you miss the point about Rod Stewart's version; the arrangement (like all of his early work) is superb and in my minds eye he sings it at the right pace/tempo. Linda rushes it somewhat.

Yeah I must have viewed this Linda Ronstadt version 50 times or more. Loved the way she runs back on stage and gives a curtsey. But now I listen to Marlena's version from Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland.

yeah I made that point before somewhere. She finishes Blue Bayou in spanish on the Mad Love tour (I think--don't quote me on the exact tours).

In 1980 she was quoted as saying:
"I used to say I should sing like a Mexican and think like a German, but that most of the time I was thinking like a Mexican and singing like a German." She grinned. "Lately, though, I've been actually thinking like a German. I've been getting my life organized."

Actually she's half mexican,check her CD "Canciones de mi padre" where she sings in spanish.
