This is a walk/drive through of our trip to Oakland Cemetery, in Dallas, Texas. We were there to take photographs of headstones and monuments. We captured some wonderful images, which will appear in another video on my channel. Two things: 1. Cemeteries are quiet places, and they affect me. Turn the volume up, because I tend to speak softly in cemeteries. 2. This is a dangerous neighborhood. This isn't the first time we've visited, and it won't be the last. If you go, go in a group and use ...

Seems sad that many cities don't take care of the old cemeteries- We have an Oakland here in Atlanta (opened 1850) on 48 acres. It's beautifully maintained by parks department, but lots are all owned privately. The Historic Oakland Foundation does what it can. Had a horrible tornado come through in March, 98 huges oaks fell, over 400 monuments damaged. Towering statues thrown down. FEMA is helping but it's going to take years.

I just returned from Oakland, and what a surprize treasure! If you replace the word Cemetery with the word Graveyard, you might be less disappointed.

I had personal business to find my Grandfather and Grandmothers graves. There is 64 acres, and over 37,000 graves. We belived it to be perpetual care. It was majestic. Now, I was told by the keeper, it is maintained on donations. The keeper welcomes all help.

Cool! My Grand parents live in Tyler, Texas. My Grandmother loves Cemeteries, as well as me.

Hopefully, this summer, I can probably visit them. My Grandmother told me that if I visit, she is making sure of taking me to see some grave yards. =3

There is an office in the front, and we've seen some grounds keepers (we think) from time to time, but the old parts of the cemetery don't seem to get much attention from them. If I remember correctly, there is a contact number posted at the gate for information. Thanks for your comment! :)
