I think a ragdoll would be worse, it might be more damage to the bot' but it would make people really laugh at it, when its cute its close to human, but you dont want it looking human when it falls down the stairs because then it looks like an idiot...

Definitely looks like a servo failure. Asimo is the most advanced humanoid robot out there. Honda has done an amazing job building these machines. To bad there's simpletons that have stupid comments on videos like this when they have no clue at all about the technology involved in something like this.

I can tell ya exactly why it happened. Weight distrubition on both legs is off; when climbing the stairs, the robot was forced to place its full weight while ascending to the next; it obviously was too much for the poor thing. That's too bad; the chick who did the robots voice sounds like one of those hot little sexy Japanese chicks who parades around in those tiny skirts.
