Beyonce Singing the Etta James Classic 'At Last'

Give credit where its due..

Glenn Miller did it first in 1941, followed by Nat King Cole in 1957. Etta got around to recording it in 1961. In fact, Glenn's version ranked higher on the Billboard Pop Singles chart than Etta's ever did... so she needs a reality check.

I can see where Etta is coming from, but DAMN! At least show the class that you are pretending to have about the whole thing! The next thing you know, they'll be doing a skit about it on SNL with her jumping out and screaming "I'm Etta James, BITCH!"

Beyonce did great. Etta James needs to calm down, Beyonce respected Etta and everything. I guess she's jealous that Beyonce got to sing it for the president over her but it's neither of their songs anyways so it shoudn't matter. Etta's acting immature and it's not making me like her.

At Last" is a 1941 song written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren for the musical film Orchestra Wives, starring George Montgomery and Ann Rutherford. It was first performed in the film and on record by Glenn Miller and his orchestra, vocal by Ray Eberle and Pat Friday. The song was a major hit for Miller, reaching number 14 on the Billboard pop charts in 1942, and it soon became a standard. Nat King Cole recorded it in 1957 on his number one album. In 1960, it was covered by Etta James.

i just heard what Etta had said and yea...yea...yea...it was not classy for her especially to be so legendary as she is but i was thinking that Etta really is not about to do anything b/c Tina Knowles is going to be on her ass! lol (i am now on the floor laughing!)

Sorry to burst all of you guys' bubble but Etta at the end of the day had no right to be so bitter. I could understand if beyonce was claiming ownership over the song but instead its a salute to Etta.

Blame those that planned the inauguration. The President probably didnt even get a say as to what socks he was gonna wear.

It's not that she was mad b/c she didn't reach the heights of beyonce... I think it's more that a woman who has been singing this song forever looses the chance at performing it at an historical event. Something I'm sure she didn't think she'd ever witness in her lifetime.

And Beyonce easily got the chance to do it. If I was in Etta James shoes I'd be pissed too! I probably wouldn't put B on blast like that but I'd understand where she was coming from..
