Noone attacks with a knife in the ways shown here. It's the classic 'martial art'-syndrome: unrealistic attacks with the opponent holding the knife over his head.

whats in the name? i practice silat, and escrima, kali.. for only my knife skills. knife is knife. arm is arm leg is a leg. its all about reflex, and movement, speed and aggression at the death situation

Escrima is more stick based while Kali is more knife based.

Knife fighters from southeast asia are considered to be among the best in MA. Some of you (gekiryudo) have claimed to have "owned" an escrimador at knife fighting. Now, im not saying that Escrimadors cant be beat, im just saying that 4 hours of experience against 20 years seems a little far fetched. What were the circumstances of the fight? was it a sparring session? was it a real fight? Was the Escrimador you fought versed in stick fighting or knife fighting? no 2 escrimadors are the same

I do Aiki-Jujutsu I have Trained with Vlad (and Systema since 1998)and he is the best fighter I have ever seen (or spared with bar non he can beat all of us commenting here all at the same time! No I'm not kidding!) I owned a Escrima guy (with 20 years experience) doing knife defence after only 4 hours of Systema Knife practice, I also have Many Aikido Dan grades coming to my Dojo to learn Systema Principles, Whatever Martial Art you do you will benefit from systema that's my 2 cents,

i thougt the philipipos are the best knife fighters.. or the dutch.. like my teacher frans stroeven.. check him.

i dont know much about this art, but it seems to be very effortless. i have seen other arts that look effortless(like aikido), but they only work in the classroom, or against an opponent that is clueless. i would like to learn more about systema, and see if it just looks good or if it actually works, but there is no one even close to me that knows this art. maybe someone on youtube could help me understand it better, before i judge it, or point to the place where i could learn.

Sound and basic fundelmentals which will develop you to advance and understand the systems. I am certain that this Martial Arts has alot to offer in the advance courses. People should not coment badly because this is only a basic level. When further advanced, I am sure people will not say anything other than WOW!
