A short performance and demo by Jordan Rudess using his new Yamaha Tenori-On. Be sure to view this in High-Quality mode to hear the audio in stereo. (If you don't hear stereo when you listen in High Quality, add "&fmt=18" without the quotes to the URL.)
It's good for a vintage videogames effects! :-)

Sounds amazing nevertheless.

By demetriorex [Affiliate User] 1218431024 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis would look amazing live. Get about 10 of these set up in a row and have whole orchestrations of these things, as well as putting on a great visual performance. I'd like to see if he uses something like this in a metal song of sorts, maybe with DT. it'd be awesome.

By fabjtown [Affiliate User] 1218020313 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe beauty of this instrument is that the graphic interface
inspires very different types of musical ideas. It also is able to output MIDI so you can control and MIDI sound source.
Its wonderful to see people designing instruments that merge the world of sight and sound!
don't you mean lite brite? lol ;P
By LordTyroxx [Affiliate User] 1217964351 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI can make a keyboard sound like a guitar. I can make an orange sound like an ocarina. I can make a piece of elastic on cardboard sound like a bass guitar. It's not the sounds you create, it's HOW you create them. It's the control, not the sound. The control of this allows you to change what sounds you produce.

By serfox1 [Affiliate User] 1217865606 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNice! On Vimeo, there's a cool clip that pairs Tenori-on with external synths. Check out "Tenori-on Meets Kyma."

By 73hNils [Affiliate User] 1217837952 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt certainly seems cool to play with, but I'm not too happy calling this thing an instrument. I'm not convinced that this machine can produce sounds, that can't be created with more control on another device. Cool anyway :)
By Anorari12 [Affiliate User] 1217820672 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeomg. i would have soo much fun with that. hahaha
By manicf122 [Affiliate User] 1217808162 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt seems that Yamaha is following one of the market's gold rules:
IF YOU WANT A SYNTH TO HAVE SUCCESS, PUT IT IN THE HANDS OF JORDAN RUDESS.
LOL oh it'll be worse

By casaroli [Affiliate User] 1217626750 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat is awesome, but I predict that within a year we'll see inexpensive toy versions in stores, and the world will be flooded with kids producing the equivalent of horrible video game music.
The murder rate will skyrocket.
