Personally I think that the title track beats Schism. And this is definitely Number 2/ tied for Number 1. Maybe it's because even high school girls who listen to Fall out Boy still know Schism thanks to "alternative rock" radio. Maybe it's just a better song. Who knows just my opinion.

Tool are an Institution of Royal Grade. What a tune, this is probably the 2nd best song on Lateralus after Schism. Awesome.

Your comments are disturbing in that most of it is the truth... Maynard can still sing, when he wants to. The set-lists are the same. Danny is still the standard. I wouldn't say the magic is gone, but I would say some of it is missing from previous albums. Personally, I think "Vic" is the worst song off of the new album. Too commercial, or something I just can't put my finger on. My favorites are Jambi, Pot, Rosetta, and Right in Two...I hate to say it, but for the most part, you're right.

I think Emo is supposed to be Emotional punk music. At least that's what my bro' says. In other words, an attempt to catagorize music. One guy I used to work with had a catagory for every band I could roll off the tip of my tongue. What a dipshit. He catagorized Tool as "Dark Gothic Metal". Whatever...

Man, these were the days. Maynard could still hit every note (and wasn't a complete asshole yet), the setlist was at least a little different every night, the music was more well-constructed and tighter than ever before, the crowd was tolerable, and Danny Carey was serving notice that he was the gold standard.

I hope they at least record one more album before the magic is gone.
