1999-00 Round 3/Game 7: Scott Stevens Hits Eric Lindros

People still hit like Stevens today. Check out hits by Dion Phaneuf, Colby Armstrong, etc. And Guess what? They don't get penalties for it either.

For the same reason you didn't get a penalty for constantly cross-checking someone in the back in front of the goal. This was during the era where the goons were allowed to get away with whatever they wanted.

If his hits were so dirty why were they never called penalties? It's because he only used his elbow for the follow through to knock the opponent down. And that's not "elbowing".

that was a dirty hit. im not even a flyers fan and that was a dirty hit. he hit him in the collar bone/shoulder area. stevens had no talent. he was only a hitter. that's it.

Defnitely clean. Shoulder and a little forearm. Lindros is a tall guy that never grew out of skating with his head down when he was younger and a foot taller than the other kids.

Yeah, except for the elbow jotting out at the 90 degree angle as in 99% of every other Stevens hit.

yea most of his hits were clean but if you really look at it,he hits him in his face wich if he were to do that today in the NHL it would be illegal.

The best hit I've seen in many years...never liked Lindros, when he was the player Team Canada was building around, the team went absolutly nowhere..he was not a leader..I can't believe some people are trying to get him in Hall of Fame?? what has he done anyway?
