Bach Allemande from Partita 2 in D

Hey! How long have you been playing the violin? The more auditions etc you do the better - it's always worth a shot! This piece isn't too hard technically - it's the style that I find hardest. Best of luck with your violin playing - keep practicing! =D

I've never thought of it that way, you definitely achieved that. Just be sure to put more fluidity in your bow hand. Let it bend a little and your playing will improve tenfold. Not saying it isn't good, it's wonderful! I hope I can play that well someday...

Hehe, it seems to be the one people recognise most quickly. My Dad actually has it as his mobile ringtone and it annoys the hell out of his colleagues haha. One of my favourite versions is by Viviane Hagner who isn't well-known but is fantastic. It will be hard but I really should stop putting it off!

It is. My grandfather bought the sonatas and partitas for me because he wanted me to learn the Ciaconna. Can't say I've made any remarkable progress, haha

I am planning to study the Ciaconna starting in 2 weeks so hopefully I can upload a section to start with. It is a good challenge but also great fun! =)

Yes her recording is excellent, as is Yehudi Menuhin's where he uses loads of vibrato. It can be good either way. Many thanks for your comment.

Rachel Podger did a recording of this piece that was incredible, and she used absolutely no vibrato at all!

Very very nice!

With this piece in particular, the faster you play it, the less you will be able to really use vibrato. I'm not saying it's IMPOSSIBLE, just not as easy. You don't want to "force" it, thew it virtually ruins a piece. I think Daniel did a very nice job, considering he didn't implement much vibrato, yet he achieved the emotion that this piece demands.
