"Arthroscopic Medial Meniscus Repair" This is a video of an actual surgery preformed by Dr. Alan M Reznik for a medial meniscus tear. The patient is a soccer player presenting with the complaint of recurrrent locking, swelling and giving way. The tear was a complex type involving a beak tear and a "red on white" tear of the meniscus rim or preriferal meniscus. It was treated with a suture repair done arthroscopically using 5 sets of sutures.
Yes this is an interestin new device (synthetic replacement) ?Available in europe I had heard it was not FDA approved yet in the US (from the company) There may be US trials - no real long term data yet. I am interest to learn who offered it.

My surgeon explained to me that he would have to access whether or not there was enough blood supply to warrant saving (suturing) it or if he would have to [simply] cut it off. Since the tissue will not regenerate, I advocated for the former option. I have since learned about the "debribing" process. Moral of the story: ALWAYS get a 2nd or 3rd opinion before letting some1 hack off a chunk of your knee cartilage!

The nurse woke me up after the surgery telling me they had finished. I guess I responded saying "yeah right" because I didn't feel a thing, first time in 5 months my knee is pain free. Now I have physical therapy to look forward too :(. But overall not bad at all, they say I'll be back for wrestling season (just 7-8 weeks after).

He said its time for Arthroscopy. I have had my problem since Nov 2007 and at first exercise and Meds seem to work. But back in September the Pain got worse and here I am 18 days from out patient surgery. My main problem is a Meniscus tear then cartilage Wear and last some Patella Problems. I'm glad you posted this Video for it makes it easier for me to relax. So I Thank You photo2c

My knees are killing me and they 'rachet' something wicked when I go up the stairs. I think it's just a matter of time before I have to have something done but I don't know how long I should wait.
