The Silence
(Words by Paul Larson & Kappa Danielson)
(Music by Paul Larson)
June 16, 2009

Sometimes nothing is the best thing,
Oh, nothin' at all.
You want a place
Where there's not a soul around.

Sometimes nothin' is all you really want,
Just an empty day....
Where you can sit on the porch
And enjoy the silent sound.

Like a child out in the rain,
Who hears the pleasure instead of pain.
Like roads not going anywhere,
Are the easiest to bear
When silence is there....
To embrace the air.

The path was empty but full of life,
In the still of the day,
I heard a chorus
From a slow meandering stream.

The child trades his toy for a box,
For there's more to work with,
For in silence....
Is where the imagination sings.

Like a child out in the rain,
Who hears the pleasure instead of pain.
Like roads not going anywhere,
Are the easiest to bear
When silence is there....
To embrace the air.

Like a child out in the rain,
Who hears the pleasure instead of pain.
Like roads not going anywhere,
Are the easiest to bear
When silence is there.....
To embrace the air.

  • I know the feelings ...

I know the feelings you are singing about.

Our once quiet corner of the world is filling up with other people building new houses in the area.
I used to have so many little places to hide away but they are fading away very quickly.
Now, when I go for a walk, it's rare that I don't meet someone along the path.

    Lovely song, Paul and Kappa.
