Beer Bottle Breaking Tutorial

There is still 1 inch of air at the top of the bottle, which can be compressed.

I've worked in the glass industry for a long time. When bottles are tested for PSI breakage, they are filled to capacity with water and the water pressure is slowly increased with a pump. When a bottle suffers a high pressure breakage, ie300+ psi, the bottle breaks into long shards that generally run top to bottom. These bottles indicate a low psi breakage but not in the expected pattern.

its because water cant be compressed like air so the water exerts force on the bottle

I doubt that it is the air pressure breaking the bottle. Bottles will hold 500+ psi and when they DO break at high pressure, they do not break in that manner. These bottle look like low psi breakage which would indicate a flaw with the bottle OR the bottle has been tampered with.
I know, I've been making glass for years.
I'd really like to see the fragments of a bottle broken this way to determine the real cause of failure as I don't beleive these bottles have not been tampered with.
