    not really. I had a dell motherboard and i swaped it for a Gigabyte motherboard and all i had to do was call microsoft and they gave me a code and my OS is working fine!

    Most games out now only use two cores well. The other cores are idle, or do whatever they do. Quad-cores such as the older Q6600 don't have a very high clock speed per core. so 2x2.4 is less than a comparable E8500, at 2x3-ish. Down to speed, the newer dual cores does have a lot more speed.

    Expect the quad-core clocks to go higher, but sitll behind the dual-cores for now. Consumer quad chips, probably will hit 2.8-3Ghz by year's end. Don't count the extremes and stuff.
