This is why people should watch where they're swimming. Animals don't kill people for fun, because of anger or any emotions. Only we humans do (sadly). Generally animals attack if feeling threatened. Almost all atttacks of this kind happen due to human carelessness (this case), arrogance or plain stupidity. Sharks are fierce predators and will attack any prey- fish, seal or swimming lady- no difference, it's all food. The world doesn't belong to our species only, so learn to live with it.
