we only have 6 altos the yr before we had 4 we do go an awesome job for our size...at least i think so alto isnt very popular.. with most girls i knot it wasnt with me at first.

Weird: I'm an alto and I just sang this at our winter concert last night! We blew the roof off the joint.

The school im at now we sing it I'm an alto in it.. but we sing it every year for our winter concert w/ the band

they used to sing this every year at our schools winter concert. it was fantastic until some politically correct jerk took it out of the program!

I wonder what it would be like if we could actually see the first performace of this song ever done.

I know it would be the same song but there are questions about the performance many of don't completely know. For example, did King George actually stand up during part of it?

Alto part is quite easy. Or In my opinon. I enjoy singing alto. I could not bring myself to sing soprano. I can sing both parts. I found alto to be much easier.

I like the fact that there isn't more the 30 people in this choir. People sometimes assume that this requires a chorus of 150. Handel never would have had a large choir singing this, so its good to stay true to the period. They are also using period instruments, which is cool.

we're singing this too. it's not really difficult (i AM a soprano). in my opinion it's easier than alto part, cuz they (most of times) have melody

The soprano part is not hard. Like at all! I'm doing the entire Messiah this year with my cities symphony and theres no "high" parts for a soprano. if anyone finds those parts high then they are not a true soprano.

um my choir is doing this and sopranos have one of the easiest parts....all the other sections have lots of jumps and skips anyways sopranos get gradually easier throughout the piece while the other sections gradually get harder...if u cant sing high hun maybe u arent a soprano? or maybe u should work on your vocal range with a vocal coach....either way the only trouble our sopranos are having is the fact that therye not used to reading same note over and over again towards the end

And we love you for it. When any choir sings this song, it's so awe inspiring and it really impacts people (me, for one). Thank you. It's one of my favorite Christmas songs and I love it.
