Is that why the fdny makes false alarm reports to con ed on the severity of the manhole fires?
I cant tell you how many times I responded to " serious manhole fire FD on location"
Abnd i have to leave a real job to respond to one of your false alarms so you can get back to the house to finish your dinner.
And yes, Its true you guys do it all the time. The FDNY is defenitely not what it used to be.

You obviously are not part of the FDNY. We keep our distance from manhole fires for many reasons, one, other manholes have been know to explode, ( causing an SUV's to flip) Second, extension of the fire into buildings, thats what we don't want. Thanks for the intelligent post.

nobody on the planet earth is more afraid of manhole fires than the FDNY. watch any manhole fire video and you will notice the FDNY are nowhere near the fire.

if you notice, the only fire fireman are afraid of is manhole fires. fireman dont go near it until the utility people show up.

There isn't too much you can do for this type of fire until the electric is turned off. No one really wants toasted firefighters. Once the power is off then you can put out the fire.
