  • Harry and Piersall ...

Harry and Piersall were indeed an incredible treat, and it's pretty lame that Harry only got the recognition he truly deserved when he jumped to the Cubs' national broadcasts. My favorite memory was Piersall riffing one night on how hot Roy Smalley's wife was!

"Oh man, I'd LOVE TO HAVE ROY SMALLEY'S WIFE"!

  • As much as I enjoy ...

As much as I enjoy listening to Steve Stone ("the professor of baseball" as I call him), there was nothing like hearing Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall when they were calling the White Sox games together from I believe 1977-1981.
They were both bigger than the that organization that only had one winning season in that time, 1977 with the South Side Hitmen.
But listening Harry and Jimmy was pure awesome, it was as if they were visitng with you in your own living room.

Thank you for posting this, but did you ever hear Santo's 2.5 inning rant about how much he loved Walgreen's? I would have to say it's a toss-up on which is funnier.

Oh God! I forgot how GREAT he was! Lifelong Reds fan, but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Cubs because of that guy!

That's the most assinine marketing I've ever heard of!
