Eric Clapton once called Buddy Guy "by far and without a doubt the best guitar player alive." Likewise, Buddy Guy once said of Clapton, "if we had more people in the world like him, it would be a better place."

You gotta love the great relationship all the blues guitarists seem to have with each other. They're free from petty rivalry and bitterness and seem like they're only too happy to jam together. After all, in playing the blues, everyone brings something uniquely his own to the table.

I believe he's using a volume pedal to and he goes louder when he's "sustaining" a note causing some feedback as well. I could be wrong though.

i bet buddy sustains a single note when he wakes up in the morning...... then goes throughtout his day doing whatever... and when he goes to bed.... he lets that note go :P he's a damn good guitarist..... listen to that sustain.... it must never be touched lol

i got to see him live last year and he did it. he said i just want yall to know i can play it too. it was incredible. clapton took a albert king lick and made layla from it. king said" let that boy have it, i got plenty more where that came from". clapton also said this song is all buddy guy.

Well you SHUT THE F**k UP, because you don't know S**t Buddy Guy himself can blow Beck, Clapton, Eric Johnson and the rest of 'em off the stage at ANYTIME!! Hell, John Lee Hooker (RIP) using ANY of his Epiphones can ROCK those cats. Know your history and use your EARS to listen to the difference. EVERY SINGLE ROCK LICK originates from the Blues, not the other way around.

Believe it or not I actually like him playing Strang Brew, better than Cream. I wish there was a version where he played the entire song.
