Lions membership opens doors in many different ways. In California, being a Lion has opened the door to service to people with developmental disabilities.
The Larkspur Champion Lions Club is only one of a few Lions Clubs made up of and run primarily by people with developmental disabilities.
The club was formed at Rec, Inc., an organization that helps adults with developmental disabilities lead fuller lives. Like all Lions Clubs, its mission is to help those in need.
Every year the club donates money to the food bank. It also donates dinners to needy families for Thanksgiving and Christmas. And buys presents for needy children. The club also provides needed services to other community members with disabilities.
Everyone can make a difference. And this club truly shows that.
